PAINTBALL QUESTIONS

  • WHAT IS THE GAME OF PAINTBALL?

Paintball is played year around on our outdoor playing fields. Paintball is a game played between two opposing teams who are trying to capture each other's flag and return it to the flag station. The only catch to all this is, you have to do this without getting zapped by a paintball. Of course you DO get to shoot back with your paintball marker. Once you have been zapped you are out for that game. Do not be concerned because games last anywhere from a few minutes to 15 minutes. So you can play as many games as you would like in a day.

  • WHAT IS A PAINTBALL?

A paintball is mostly a gelatin ball, which is filled with cornstarch, food coloring, and mineral oil. Our park only uses paintballs are non-toxic and biodegradable and come in a bright color, so you can see what you hit! No outside paintballs allowed in the park.

  • WHAT IS LOW IMPACT PAINTBALL?

Low Impact Paintball is a lightweight, lower velocity version of paintball directed at beginners and kids ages 7-12. The paintballs are smaller, about half the size of a regular paintball, and are filled with non-toxic water-soluble paint. The markers are lightweight and are made smaller to fit in smaller hands. They shoot semi-auto only and at a lower velocity. So there is less pain, less mess, and more fun! Moms and Dads are welcome to play too!

  • WHAT AGES CAN PLAY?

Velocity Paintball suggests 10 or older for Traditional Paintball and 7 or older for Low Impact Paintball. Airsoft suggested ages are 10 or older.

  • WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Please dress appropriately. You are going to get dirty!! The paint will wash out of clothes.

It’s best to wear loose fitting clothing. Loose fitting layers helps with absorbing the impact of the ball so you feel it less. Something you don’t mind getting dirty. A hoody or long sleeve shirt, jeans or sweat pants so you can move around easily. Remember you are going to be running and crouching down. Maybe even crawling and kneeling. You want to wear supportive athletic shoes with good grip. At Velocity Paintball Park you will encounter many different kinds of terrain. We have sand, loose dirt, grass, rocks and lots of hills, dips, trenches, creek beds, stumps, trees, bushes and plenty of bunkers made from all kinds of materials; logs, dirt berms, pallets, spools, plastic tubing and plywood.

Bring a change of clothes for the ride home. For example shorts and a t-shirt maybe even a second pair of shoes. A trash bag is helpful to carry your playing clothes home in. We have a changing room for your privacy.

No shorts or sandals. If you choose to wear shorts, you will be playing at your own risk, but you will not be allowed to play in sandals. Jeans, sneakers or boots, and a long sleeve shirt are recommended. Please dress for the weather - WE PLAY RAIN OR SHINE.

  • PAINTBALL PLAYING TIPS

Move around while keeping your eyes open is the best tip for playing paintball. Many players make a great play and then quickly get eliminated because they were not looking around. Be alert and never focus too much on one thing. Don't keep zipping paintballs at the same guy behind the bunker or tree over and over again. Move on and surprise him from the side or another angle. Most importantly Be Honest, if you get hit and see the splat on you, please raise your hand and exit the game. There is always another game to redeem yourself.

  • IS PAINTBALL SAFE?

Paintball is one of the safest sports you can participate in. Like any other activity or sport there is always the potential for injury. However, paintball has one of the lowest injury rates of any sport. Insurance company statistics have shown that bowling and fishing have higher injury rates than paintball.

  • DOES PAINTBALL HURT?

We’re not going to lie. Getting hit with a paintball can hurt. Some say it feels like getting snapped with a rubber band. Others may not even feel the hit. Your adrenaline can sometimes take over and you won’t even realize some of your paintball hits.

  • DO I HAVE TO USE YOUR PAINTBALLS?

SELF-EQUIPPED: Yes, you must use our paintballs to play on our fields.

In order to keep up with costs of upgrading the fields and retaining quality staff, we require you to purchase paintballs from Velocity Paintball Park in Ramona or Velocity Paintball Retail Store in Kearny Mesa. Keep your receipt.

Velocity Paintball offers a variety of choices on brands and levels of paintballs at the field and at our retail store.

We are also offering 6-month Memberships for $100 that covers your admission and all-day air fills when you play. All you have to do is purchase a case of paintballs when you play.

We appreciate your cooperation and loyalty. If there is a brand you would like to see more of, let us know.

AIRSOFT QUESTIONS

  • WHAT IS AIRSOFT?

Airsoft is a military simulation based game. Opponents use *Airsoft replicas to shoot plastic BB’s. Airsoft is similar to Paintball because it can be fast paced and requires being hit by a projectile. The difference is the BB’s do not splat on impact. BB’s are not filled with any substance that could mark the hit opponent. It is a game of honor. Players must call themselves out when hit. Airsoft games are also much more technical and most game play is scenario based. There is usually and objective or many objectives to complete a game. Games can last 5 minutes in CQB/Speedsoft or hours in scenario type games.

  • WHAT IS AN AIRSOFT REPLICA?

Airsoft replicas are made to look like real firearms and come in all types of formats from pistols and rifles to snipers. It is very important for parents to understand what their kids are getting into and to treat all equipment that expels a projectile as if it were a real firearm. The safety should be engaged, magazines should be out and breach clear when not in an active game. Barrel blocking devices are also required and must attach to the replica to prevent accidentally expelling a projectile.

  • AIRSOFT PLAY REQUIREMENTS

-Fully sealed approved goggle systems must be used in areas of play or chronograph areas.

Paintball gogglemask systems or approved Airsoft goggles that meet or exceed ASTM standards. The full face and ears must be covered either by a mask system or balaclava or bandana to prevent injury or penetration of BBs.

-Mandatory “barrel blocking device” enforcement in all areas excluding the playing fields when in play. A barrel blocking device is exactly that, an accepted blocking device designed to fit in the end or over the end of a barrel, not a stick squeegee, a pull squeegee, a sock or towel!

  • AIRSOFT RULES

-We do not allow Bang Bang; we allow "knife kills" or two hand touch when within the allowed MED which is 15ft.

-Max Velocity is 400FPS with .20 BB MED 15ft

-Max Velocity Sniper 500FPS with .20 BB MED 100ft

    -Tournament Locks required for HPA

-Snipers can not have Full Auto selection or ability and cannot engage within 100 feet.

-Pistols under 350FPS have a 5ft MED - No "knife" or touch "kills."

  • DO I HAVE TO USE YOUR BB's?

RENTAL CUSTOMERS: When you are using our equipment we require you to shoot our BB's to keep your experience consistent with what we offer. BB's brought in from the outside tend to be cheaper and less likely to work in our equipment. This hinders your ability to have a good time.

SELF-EQUIPPED: Players that come and play during open play hours are allowed to bring their own BB's. People who have purchased their own equipment tend to buy a better quality BB's. They understand that airsoft BB's need to have good quality so their rifles work at optimum performance.

  • HOW MANY PEOPLE FOR PRIVATE GROUPS?

Our minimum is 10 players for a private group.

We don’t list a max amount because we can do groups of 150 or more. If you make a reservation for 10 however and show up with 20, we may not be able to accommodate you. We need to have staff available to cover your extra players, so in that sense your max allowed players would be 15.
