Low Impact Paintball

Available for players ages 7+

What is Low Impact Paintball

Low Impact Paintball games are designed for ages 7 years and up. The equipment is lighter and fits in smaller hands better.

Low Impact Paintball provides all the same fun and excitement as traditional paintball, with 67% less energy on impact!

Low Impact Paintball is a sophisticated combination of childhood games such as tag, Capture the Flag, and hide and seek. Using air-powered paintball guns, participants compete against one another, on teams, or individually, to eliminate opponents by tagging them with paintballs.

Velocity Paintball Park sets the speed at 180 – 220fps, whereas traditional paintball .68 caliber guns are set at 285fps. This makes low impact very popular with the 12 and under players and many others.

Important Note: You will only play with others who are using the same .50 caliber equipment. There is no mixing of equipment during play. Our Low Impact paintball group packages are perfect for almost ANY AGE or gathering.

Common Low Impact Paintball Questions

WHAT IS LOW IMPACT PAINTBALL?

Velocity offers Low Impact Paintball, which is a lightweight, lower velocity version of paintball directed at beginners and kids ages 7 – 12. The paintballs are smaller, about half the size of a regular paintball, and are filled with non-toxic water-soluble paint. The markers are lightweight and are made smaller to fit in smaller hands. They shoot semi-auto only and at a lower velocity. So there is less pain, less mess, and more fun! Moms and dads are welcome to play too!

WHAT IS A PAINTBALL?

A paintball is mostly a gelatin ball, which is filled with cornstarch, food coloring, and mineral oil. Our park only uses paintballs that are non-toxic and biodegradable and come in a bright color, so you can see what you hit! No outside paintballs are allowed in the park.

IS PAINTBALL SAFE?

Paintball is one of the safest sports you can participate in. Like any other activity or sport there is always the potential for injury. However, paintball has one of the lowest injury rates of any sport. Insurance company statistics have shown that bowling and fishing have higher injury rates than paintball.

DOES PAINTBALL HURT?

We’re not going to lie. Getting hit with a paintball can hurt. Some say it feels like getting snapped with a rubber band. Others may not even feel the hit. Your adrenaline can sometimes take over and you won’t even realize some of your paintball hits.

WHO CAN PLAY PAINTBALL?

Paintball is one of the only sports where men, women, and children can compete on a level playing field. Anyone from the age of 10 years old and up can play paintball. You will see all walks of life playing paintball from children to their mom and dad, they all play paintball. Any physical type can play paintball too. You do not have to be a track or football star to be good at this game. Who plays paintball? Just about everybody can or does play paintball.

Velocity Paintball suggests 10+ for Traditional Paintball and 7+ for Low Impact Paintball.

DO I NEED A RESERVATION?

Reservations are only needed for private groups of 10 or more.

We require a deposit of $200 (unless stated otherwise) or payment in full ONE WEEK in advance for a reservation. We need to be able to guarantee staff and equipment for your group as well as others on the same day.

DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE

HOW MANY PEOPLE FOR PRIVATE GROUPS?

Our minimum is 10 players for a private group.

We don’t list a maximum amount because we can do groups of 150 or more. If you make a reservation for 10 however and show up with 20, we may not be able to accommodate you. We need to have staff available to cover your extra players, so in that sense, your max allowed players would be 15.

DO I HAVE TO USE YOUR PAINTBALLS?

Yes, all players are required to use our paintballs.

In order to keep up with the costs of upgrading the fields and retaining quality staff, we require you to purchase paintballs from Velocity Paintball Park in Ramona or Velocity Paintball Retail Store in Kearny Mesa. Our Field Paintballs are available at the store in Kearny Mesa.

We appreciate your cooperation and loyalty.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Please dress appropriately. You are going to get dirty! The paint will wash out of clothes.

It’s best to wear loose-fitting clothing. Loose-fitting layers help with absorbing the impact of the ball so you feel it less. Something you don’t mind getting dirty. A hoody or long-sleeved shirt, jeans, or sweatpants so you can move around easily. Remember you are going to be running and crouching down. Maybe even crawling and kneeling. You want to wear supportive athletic shoes with good grip. At Velocity Paintball Park you will encounter many different kinds of terrain. We have sand, loose dirt, grass, rocks and lots of hills, dips, trenches, creek beds, stumps, trees, bushes and plenty of bunkers made from all kinds of materials; logs, dirt berms, pallets, spools, plastic tubing and plywood.

Bring a change of clothes for the ride home. For example shorts and a t-shirt maybe even a second pair of shoes. A trash bag is helpful to carry your playing clothes home in. We have a changing room for your privacy.

No Crocs, shorts or sandals. If you choose to wear shorts, you will be playing at your own risk, but you will not be allowed to play in sandals. Jeans, sneakers or boots, and a long sleeve shirt are recommended. Please dress for the weather – WE PLAY RAIN OR SHINE.

PAINTBALL PLAYING TIPS

Move around while keeping your eyes open is the best tip for playing paintball. Many players make a great play and then quickly get eliminated because they were not looking around. Be alert and never focus too much on one thing. Don’t keep zipping paintballs at the same guy behind the bunker or tree over and over again. Move on and surprise him from the side or another angle. Most importantly Be Honest, if you get hit and see the splat on you, please raise your hand and exit the game. There is always another game to redeem yourself.
